Amplifier Troubleshooting Checklist
Choose the symptom and work through the checks in order instead of replacing parts at random.
Amplifier will not power on

Measure voltage between the amplifier B+ and ground terminals. Do not test B+ against a random body point and assume the installed ground is good.

Measure the remote terminal with the source on. A conventional remote input generally needs a positive turn-on voltage; confirm the amplifier's documented threshold.

Check the source fuse, distribution fuses, and onboard fuses with power removed. Replace only with the specified type and rating.

Measure voltage drop across the positive and ground paths while the amplifier attempts to turn on.

If B+, ground, and remote are correct at the amplifier terminals, follow the amplifier's service procedure instead of bypassing protection.
If the symptom remains after verified voltage, signal, load, and wiring checks, use the amplifier manufacturer's diagnostic or service procedure.
